Implants
Implants that strengthen and complete your smile
A dental implant is a long-term solution to replace missing teeth. It is a titanium screw that is placed onto your existing jawbone and acts to ‘anchor' new crowns or bridges to support existing teeth. Over time, the implant will integrate with the jawbone to function as an artificial tooth root and can be used to support crowns, bridges, and dentures
Who can have implants
Each individual implant case is different which is why we insist that an in-depth dental examination is carried out and x-rays are taken to help us assess if the patient is suitable for the desired treatment.
At your initial examination, we will be able to assess if you have enough quality bone present for the implant to integrate with. If there is not enough quality bone, we can prepare the jawbone for the procedure with a bone graft. Our dentists will discuss the best option for you to successfully achieve your smile makeover.

What does the treatment involve
Although the implant procedure often causes patients to feel some anxiety, it is significantly less invasive than it seems. Our team of professionals will put you at ease and administer a local anaesthetic that will make the treatment as pain-free as possible. Following the procedure, the after-effects are comparable to having a tooth extracted and will cause mild discomfort as your mouth begins the healing process.
How long will implants last
Like most dental work, implants must be well looked after with a good oral hygiene routine to ensure they remain fully functional for several years. The crowns and dentures attached to the implant will also last for a considerable number of years if well maintained, however, they will need to be replaced at one point in the future.

Guided Implant Surgery
Guided Implant Surgery is a modern method of installing dental implants using a digital intraoral scanner to scan the patient’s mouth and create a 3D model. Prior to the introduction of the guided approach, dentists had to perform some guesswork when choosing the part of the jawbone to place the implant, however, the new intraoral scanner provides dentists with an exact location before performing the procedure offering a more precise and effective result.
Who can receive implant surgery
Like standard implant surgery, patients who are missing a tooth or have a damaged tooth that requires removal can have guided implant surgery. While professional dentists can perform implant surgery without the use of modern technology, the scanners reduce the risk of human error by planning the safest and most patient-friendly procedure with optimal results.
What are the benefits of guided implant surgery in comparison to normal implants?Â
We understand that it’s never great news having to replace a missing tooth, however, guided implant surgery uses state-of-the-art technology to provide a safer and more comfortable experience for patients. The surgery itself tends to be less complex and can be carried out in a shorter timeframe.
The highly precise nature of the procedure produces a more functional and aesthetically pleasing result through advanced virtual planning in comparison to traditional methods. For dentists, having the ability to immediately display 3D scans allows for better patient education when explaining the condition of the mouth as well as the vital next steps to replace the missing tooth. Overall, the introduction of GIS allows dentists to deliver predictable and precise implant placements which in turn reduces the risk to patients by offering a safer and time-effective solution.
